Make Crick Software a part of your Lending Library
We are delighted that CENMAC has chosen to include Clicker and DocsPlus in their Lending Library toolkit recommendations.
If your Local Authority is taking part, we’d love to discuss how we can work together to help your schools explore these powerful writing support tools and ensure they can make the most of their trial period.
Who would benefit from trialling Clicker/DocsPlus?
Clicker and DocsPlus are currently helping thousands of learners across the UK to overcome their barriers to writing, including pupils who:
- Struggle to translate their thoughts into written output
- Find it difficult to capture and organise their ideas
- Need help with structuring sentences and spelling
- Require a lot of adult support to complete written tasks
- Are unable to access curriculum content independently
- Feel anxious and frustrated when faced with literacy tasks
We would usually recommend Clicker for primary pupils and DocsPlus (which includes a JCQ-compliant ‘Exam Mode’) for secondary students.

How will we support your Lending Library?
Based on the discussions that we have had with other Local Authorities involved in this project, we have put together the Crick Software Lending Library Programme, which will give your schools access to all the tools, training and expertise they need to run an effective pilot.
- You will be able to install Clicker and/or DocsPlus on every Windows, Mac and iPad device in your Lending Library*.
- Our product experts will provide your staff with an overview of how the software works – whether you are completely new to Clicker/DocsPlus, or familiar with older versions and want to explore the key updates, we will tailor this session to your needs and experience. We can also set up a meeting with our support team to ensure your technical staff have all the information they need to get up and running.
- We will also include a launch webinar for schools in your Local Authority so that teachers can identify which pupils would benefit from piloting Clicker or DocsPlus.
- In addition to our half-termly live training webinars that all Lending Library participants will be able to attend, our Customer Experience team will create a bespoke ‘training portal’ on our website for the schools in your authority. This will include access to our ‘getting started’ guides, top tips, and an on-demand training course for teachers/TAs to complete at their own pace.
*If your schools would like to pilot the software more widely, we can also provide them with unlimited access to Clicker/DocsPlus on their own devices during the trial period!
How much will it cost?
We believe that, with the right tools and support, every child can be an independent writer – and we want to give as many children as possible the chance to find the right solution for them. That’s why we won’t be charging Local Authorities to have access to our products in their Lending Library. It’s free!
However, we know that for a pilot to be successful, it needs to be well structured, with clear objectives and regular check-ins, so schools that would like to trial Clicker or DocsPlus will need to follow our pilot checklist:
6-week trial period
Commit to a 6-week trial period to ensure there is enough time to explore the software with their learner(s).
Who will be involved?
Let us know which staff members will be participating in the trial, and the best way to contact them before the trial begins so that we can share the training portal and invite them to our next live training webinar.
Meet with us!
The staff member leading the pilot will have a pilot kick-off meeting, a check-in meeting at the half-way point, and a final feedback meeting with one of our experts. They will recommend the most beneficial tools and activities to trial, how to measure success, and offer any support needed along the way!
