Duke's Choice Award from Sun Microsystems
In May 2008, WriteOnline was announced the winner of the Duke's Choice Award at the JavaOne Conference in San Francisco, California.
The Duke's Choice Awards program recognises the year's most influential Java technology-based applications submitted by developers and companies around the world. The winners are chosen by Vice President, James Gosling, along with a panel of Java technology experts at Sun Microsystems.
Here is what David Bryant, senior director of Java marketing at Sun, had to say:
"This is the sixth year we have
run these awards and every
year we receive even more
entries, from independent
developers to multi-national
giants. Our primary judging
criteria is innovation.
There are other online word
processors on the market, but
WriteOnline provides the
sophistication expected of a
word processor, is easy to use
and can also be used offline
for up to three days.
The implementation of Java
technology means that this
application is accessible to
all learners on any internet
connected computer – truly innovative."
